THE ROLE Advising major commercial organisations, banks and government departments on the many facets of PFI/PPP is no straightforward task, and the teams faced with this task are undoubtedly diverse. One of the most important tasks in the process is the ability to build and develop highly complex financial models which can demonstrate the true size and complexity of the deal being entered into, as well as the risk being taken on board by the client. The individuals carrying out the modeling need to display the following characteristics:

• Exceptional modeling skills Truly commercial, able to deal with senior client personnel and truly understand the project - not just be able to model it!
• Truly consultative - able to advise the client roundly, not just talk about models!

Within this organisation, the successful candidate will both deal with the client on a daily basis and manage a highly motivated team of analysts and modellers. You will have to possess the organisation to meet very tight deadlines, as well as the creativity to help the client overcome the many problems which they may have.

THE CANDIDATE In a role with a strong emphasis on progression, and a clear track to progress to Directorship, one of the key qualities the client will be looking for is the ability to develop future business. In the shorter term, you MUST possess the following:

• Exceptionally strong modelling skills (to train and assess others you must be exemplary yourself)
• Demonstrably strongman-management skills
• Strong track record working in a project-based way, ideally for a Consulting business or a Blue Chip involved in major projects
• ideally a qualified accountant - not essential but would bode well
